An extreme place in the middle of the desert where life is a miracle. The estate has 9.82 ha., which were planted in 2012, in full production with varieties like Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. 100% are clones planted on rootstocks suited to the soils in the area. They are subject to technified drip-irrigation using water from the River Huasco. They are VSP-trained and the average yields are 5-6 ton/ha.
Longomilla is in the Huasco Valley, 675km from Santiago. It is 14km from Vallenar and 32km from the Pacific Ocean, in the River Huasco basin.

Year-round desert climate with little or no rainfall in winter. The average temperature is 17°C-19°C. There are strong winds that are channelled along the River Huasco. The average minimum temperatures in winter do not drop below 7°C and the maximum temperatures in summer between December and February are 26°C-27°C.
These are sandy loam and are stony at the surface. Alluvial in origin. 70% sand in the first 70cm of soil. Slightly alkaline and with a calcareous matrix at a depth of 90cm. The profile is very porous because of the stones and sand in the soil. pH 7.5-8.0 and with very little organic matter.
